Me-Made June Days 3 and 4

We had a lovely burst of beautiful weather the last couple of days--practically summertime weather! So I was able to wear two dresses that are normally reserved only for warm weather--WITHOUT a cardigan or jacket! whoohooo! :-)

Me-Made June Day 3:
We took my niece and her partner to our old town of Falkland or 'the hidden place'.  It was such a beautiful day.  We started out by having lunch at an organic farm, then took a short stroll through the woods to the quaint town square.

We then visited the Falkland Palace and the beautiful Falkland Palace Gardens:
This photo was taken in front of a giant clematis plant (it's HUGE).

Here's David, Brittany and Brad enjoying the Falkland Palace Gardens:
Oh yes, I'm the only one dressed up in vintage-inspired clothes...but my family is used to it :)

After our trip to the Falkland Palace, we took another short walk on one of the nature paths and came across a bunch of horses with foals (one as young as 2 weeks old)...awwww...horsies!

Me-Made June Day 4:
Another amazingly beautiful and warm day!  We went and spent the day in St. Andrews.  I love St. Andrews because it has everything--a ruined cathedral, a castle, beaches, old university buildings, an ancient golf course...
Perfect day for the Burdastyle dress I recently made, blogged about here.

We had such a fun time!!  What's your favourite warm weather day trip?

  1. I think it's wonderful you sew and wear the vintage clothes I love it! So many young women are doing this out in Blogland. This clothing is so much prettier than modern stuff. Your day trip looks just wonderful.

  7. You look beautiful. I have been craving a day trip myself, maybe to a state park with a lake. Just a chance to take a break and go somewhere peaceful and pretty, and maybe stop for breakfast or lunch at a kitschy old diner along the way.

  8. I was walking to work the other day and saw a young women in full '30s style: dress, shoes, fur trimmed coat (it was a day after a thunderstorm and unusually cold); even the perfect wavy hairstyle. And she didn't look out of place, just stylish and elegant compared to the slobs in their pajama pants and crocks shuffling around between exams. I think that the vintage styles you make really suit you and you carry them with such confidence.

  10. You look beautiful! Such lovely places to visit too. I need to get out and visit some local historic attractions and gardens this summer. It's easy to forget the things in your own back yard.

  12. I love both looks! I really like the snood on you, Debi - so elegant! :) My favourite day trips have been whilst on vacation: Holyrood Palace (lovely & haunted), and to Gananoque, Ontario (gorgeous & fab antique shops).

  13. Looks like you had a couple of lovely day trips! We got a car recently so have been able to go to some of the beaches on the west coast on sunny days. It would be fun to meet up when you next come to Glasgow - I haven't been to the Edinburgh Mandors but I believe the Glasgow one is bigger! I absolutely love it! x
